Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers, no fine print.

The questions families ask us most often, answered honestly and transparently. If something's not covered here, call us anytime — a real person will answer.

What is direct cremation?
A simple, dignified cremation without a formal funeral service or viewing beforehand. Your loved one is taken into our care, all paperwork and permits are handled, the cremation is carried out privately, and the ashes are returned to you — all for one complete price of $1,095.
What does the $1,095 include?
Everything: around-the-clock transportation with no mileage fees, all required legal documents and permit filings, Social Security notification, secure refrigeration, the private cremation itself, a standard urn, return of the ashes, and 24/7 counselor support throughout. No hidden fees.
Are there any extra fees not listed?
Only two, and both are stated upfront in writing before any agreement is signed: (1) additional handling for individuals over 300 lbs, and (2) pacemaker removal required for cremation safety. Optional death certificate copies are at California state cost of $26 each with no markup.
How soon can you help?
Immediately. We're available 24/7 — call (323) 282-5457 any hour and a real counselor will guide you through the first steps. If a passing has just occurred, we can begin coordination with the hospital, hospice, or responding agency within minutes.
What areas do you serve?
All of Los Angeles County and surrounding Southern California communities — Downtown LA, the Westside, San Fernando Valley, South Bay, Long Beach, East LA, and everywhere in between. We come to you.
How long does the full process take?
California requires the death certificate to be signed by the physician and filed with the county before cremation can be scheduled. This typically takes 7–10 business days. Cremation follows within 1–3 days after the permit is issued. Ashes are returned to your family within 24–48 hours of the cremation date.
Can I be present at the cremation?
Yes, if you'd like to be. Witness cremation is available as an optional add-on service. Many families find peace in choosing to be present; many others prefer not to. There's no wrong choice.
Can I hold a memorial service later?
Absolutely — and many families do. Direct cremation means your family can hold a memorial, celebration of life, or scattering ceremony at your own pace, in your own place, weeks or months later. We're happy to coordinate with venues or officiants if needed.
What if my loved one passes outside Los Angeles?
We can coordinate with a partner provider in that location to bring your loved one into local care, then arrange return of the ashes to you. Additional shipping fees may apply depending on distance, and we'll disclose those upfront.
Do you offer preplanning?
Yes — our Peace of Mind Plan locks in today's price for future arrangements. You preplan on paper (no payment required) and your family is spared the burden later. Learn more on our Plan Ahead page.
How do I pay?
Major credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfer. We also accept life insurance assignments. Payment is due prior to the cremation. If you need to discuss payment options, please call us — we'll find a way.
Will my loved one be alone with other remains during cremation?
No. California law and our strict chain-of-custody protocols require each cremation to be private and individual. Metal identification tags accompany your loved one throughout the entire process and are placed with the ashes for permanent identification.
What kind of urn do I get?
A dignified standard urn is included in the $1,095 price. If you prefer a decorative, custom, or specialty urn (wood, ceramic, biodegradable, etc.), upgrade options are available at additional cost and clearly listed.
Do you file the Social Security notification?
Yes — we file the required Form SSA-721 Statement of Death with the Social Security Administration on your family's behalf. One less call for you to make.
Can I plan ahead for myself?
Yes. Preplanning your own direct cremation ensures your wishes are honored and spares your family from making decisions during an emotional time. We offer a no-payment Peace of Mind Plan — call to learn more.
