Mid-City covers the heart of LA west of Downtown — Carthay, Mid-Wilshire, Pico-Robertson edge, the Fairfax corridor. We respond with established relationships at Cedars, Kaiser WLA, and the surrounding regional centers.
Mid-City isn't one neighborhood — it's a cluster of them. The Fairfax corridor, Mid-Wilshire, Carthay Square, Country Club Park, Little Ethiopia, Pico-Robertson's western edge, and the eastern reach of La Brea. Together they form the dense heart of LA west of Downtown, with Cedars-Sinai as the regional anchor, Olympia Medical Center's historic footprint, and Kaiser West LA just south.
Mid-City has one of LA's oldest Jewish and Ethiopian communities, a strong Latino presence, and increasingly younger renters. Our counselors coordinate across every tradition with Spanish language support in-house and referral options for other languages. Response from most of Mid-City is 1–1.5 hours; longer during Pico Boulevard or Wilshire rush-hour congestion.
Our team coordinates directly with the hospitals that most often serve Mid-City families — from case management to decedent affairs — so release and transfer happen without the usual delay.
8700 Beverly Boulevard
The regional anchor for Mid-City. One of the busiest acute care centers in the county. We coordinate with Cedars' decedent affairs team daily — one of the most streamlined channels in LA.
6041 Cadillac Avenue
Serves Mid-City's Kaiser HMO membership. We handle Kaiser WLA transfers routinely.
1225 Wilshire Boulevard
On Mid-City's eastern edge, Good Sam serves many Mid-City families. Established coordination with their care team.
Olympic & Fairfax (closed; routed nearby)
Olympia closed in 2021 — Mid-City patients historically served there now route to Cedars, Kaiser WLA, or Good Samaritan. We handle those details.
Working regularly in Mid-City means we know the neighborhoods, the hospitals, the cemetery options, and how LA County logistics intersect with this part of the city.
Mid-City's spine is Wilshire — rush hour on Wilshire is unforgiving and we plan around it. During peak traffic, residence response can take 2–2.5 hours; off-peak it's 1–1.5. The Fairfax corridor and Carthay Square are tighter geographically and often faster. Senior apartment buildings along Beverly, Pico, and Olympic are frequent calls and we work with building management for discreet entry.
Cedars-Sinai is the center of gravity. Kaiser WLA handles HMO cases. Good Samaritan picks up the eastern edge. UCLA Ronald Reagan handles higher-acuity tertiary care from Mid-City. Since Olympia's closure, routing has consolidated at Cedars and Kaiser WLA primarily.
Mount Sinai Memorial Park Hollywood Hills is the historic Jewish cemetery most often chosen by Mid-City Jewish families — about 20 minutes north. Hollywood Forever is a short drive east with cremation gardens on-site. Hillside Memorial Park in Culver City/Westchester is another historic Jewish option. For scattering, families often choose coastal sites at Santa Monica or Marina del Rey.
Mid-City routes to the LA County Medical Examiner at 1104 N. Mission Rd. — about 25–30 minutes via Wilshire and the 101. LAPD Wilshire and Olympic Divisions typically handle initial pronouncements. Attended hospital deaths with physician certification don't require Coroner routing.
The next step depends on where the passing happened. Here's the clearest path forward in each situation.
The hospital pronounces death and notifies their decedent affairs team. You designate us as the cremation provider — one call to (323) 282-5457 and we coordinate the release directly with the hospital. You don't need to be at the hospital when we arrive.
Call the hospice first — their nurse comes out, pronounces, and completes initial paperwork. Then call us. We arrive within 2–3 hours in most parts of Mid-City to bring your loved one into our care.
Under California law, an authorized responder must pronounce death first. Call 911 and request the non-emergency response if the passing was expected. Once paramedics or law enforcement complete their part, call us.
Sudden or unexplained deaths route to the LA County Medical Examiner at 1104 N. Mission Rd. in Boyle Heights. We coordinate pickup directly from the Coroner once released, and we keep your family updated at every step.
